A stand-alone technique as well as the heart of our F.I.T.T. program, the Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization Technique, or SASTM for short, is a specialized form of sports massage for muscle and joint problems.
The technique uses specially designed tools rubbed into the skin to break up scar tissue - comparative to ironing out a wrinkled tablecloth.
This treatment differs from other pain relief therapies like traditional massage because it hits knots form the side instead of above, and with stronger force. The increased inflammation forces the body to begin healing the injury and thus reducing the pain.
Back pain and other muscle strains, ligaments and tendon problems, as well as shoulder, knee and ankle pain are just a few of the conditions that can benefit from this treatment.
Conditions that can benefit from SASTM:
Carpal tunnel
Frozen shoulder
Plantar fasciitis
Rotator cuff tendinitis
Tendinitis
Bursitis
Ankle strains and sprains
Heel pain
Hamstring and quadricep injuries
Ligament sprains
Muscle strains
Back pain
Hip pain (replacements)
IT band syndrome
Shin splints
Knee replacements
Scars
Benefits include pain relief, increased mobility, joint function, body mechanics, and athletic performance.
