S.A.S.T.M. (Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)

S.A.S.T.M. Technique - sports massageA stand-alone technique as well as the heart of our F.I.T.T. program, the Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization Technique, or SASTM for short, is a type of sports massage therapy that addresses acute as well as chronic muscle problems.

The technique uses specially designed tools rubbed into the skin to break up adhesions (scar tissue) in your muscles -  comparative to ironing out a wrinkled tablecloth. It relieves pain as well as increases athletic performance.

This treatment differs from other pain relief therapies like traditional massage because it hits knots form the side instead of above, and with stronger force. The increased inflammation forces the body to begin healing the injury and thus reducing the pain.

Back pain and other muscle strains, ligaments and tendon problems, as well as shoulder, knee and ankle pain are just a few of the conditions that can benefit from this treatment.

Specific treatable conditions include:
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Frozen shoulder
Plantar Fasciitis
Rotator Cuff Tendinitis
Patellar TendinitisAnkle strains and sprains
Heel Pain / Achilles Tendinitis
Hamstring Injuries
Quadricep Injuries
Myofascial Pain and Restrictions

Simple Test for Posture Dysfunction

  1. View your posture in the mirror - notice any asymmetry with feet, hips or shoulders?
  2. Stand on one leg then the other, is there is difference?
  3. Pigeon-toe your feet with toes touching & tighten your thighs. Does your pain change?
  4. Stand normal with your hands interlocked behind your head & pull your elbows back as far as you can. Does that change your pain?
